Nestled between the Drôme and Isère departments, Vercornoix - Les Cabanes et Roulottes du Vercors offers a unique blend of nature, tradition, and comfortable, small-scale hospitality. Set at 640 Chemin des Granges Buissières in Saint-Jean-en-Royans, the estate is built around a family walnut production—an invitation to discover the authentic craftsmanship behind the famed Noix de Grenoble. Since the family operation began in 1902, Vercornoix has evolved into a welcoming retreat. In 2017 the first roulotte was installed overlooking the walnut groves; additional roulottes and treehouses joined the estate in subsequent years, creating an intimate collection of 11 unusual accommodations ideal for romantic escapes, family breaks, or quiet solo retreats. Each lodging is equipped with a kitchenette and a private bathroom with a hairdryer, and linens and cleaning are included to make arrivals effortless. Guests can enhance their stay with breakfast service (delivered to the accommodation between 8:00 and 8:30 for €12 per person) and may bring well-behaved dogs for an additional fee. Shared estate amenities include a Nordic bath and sauna that invite relaxation after a day of hiking, cycling, or exploring the nearby caves and historic villages. The Rosalie four-seater bike is available for family rides along scenic country lanes. The Vercors region is a playground for outdoor lovers: drive along cliffside routes, explore subterranean wonders like the Grotte de Choranche, or wander the Jardin des Fontaines Pétrifiantes. Close-by cultural activities include river cruises on the Isère, revealing historic villages and landscapes from the water. Practical information is straightforward: arrivals are between 15:00 and 18:00, departures before 10:00, and same-day reservations close at 17:00. Whether you are seeking a distinctive glamping experience among walnut trees or a peaceful base for exploring the Vercors, Vercornoix balances traditional agricultural heritage with contemporary comfort. The hosts, descendants of the founding family, combine local knowledge and personal attention to curate stays that highlight regional gastronomy, nature activities, and the timeless charm of rural France.

The Vercornoix company was created in 1902 by Mr. Berthuin Maurice.
Today it is managed by his grandson Mr. Berthuin Lionel.
It all started with a family exploitation of walnut trees. The production develops little by little in the 1980s to reach a production of 80 tons of walnuts in the 2000s.
In 2017 a first trailer is installed with a view on the walnut trees. Three other trailers and a tree house have been added since.
This is how Les Roulottes du Vercors was born.
