Domaine de Frévent offers a rare combination of history, nature and responsible hospitality just 70 km southeast of Paris. Nestled in an 11-hectare forest attached to the Villefermoy massif and close to the great Fontainebleau woods, the estate began as a village hamlet and later served as a state hunting relay. Today it remains steeped in that same harmony with nature: antique wells, architectural traces and a long tradition of living alongside the forest.
Guests sleep in handcrafted treehouses set among bicentennial oak trees. To protect the fragile environment, the treehouses are deliberately off-grid: there is no running water or mains electricity in the cabins. Instead, the domain provides individual bathrooms with showers, toilets, heating and charging points in the main buildings so comfort does not come at the expense of the forest. Cabin lighting is provided by battery lanterns, and beds are prepared with fitted sheets, pillowcases and folded duvets. Guests are asked to bring a duvet cover or sleeping bag for extra warmth and personal comfort.
Practical details ensure a smooth stay: arrivals are between 16:00 and 18:00 and departures by 11:00. Cars cannot reach the cabins; expect a 300-meter walk from the parking area and bathroom facilities. Families are welcome, with cabins accessible to children aged two and up; however, cabins are not suitable for women more than six months pregnant. Smoking and pets are not permitted on site.
The domain is an ideal base for outdoor activities: walking and hiking on countless trails, climbing on the Fontainebleau boulders, canoeing on the Loing, or horseback riding nearby.
