Château de Memanat is a tranquil 20-hectare estate of woods, fields and gardens set along the Thaurion River in the Creuse department. This rural retreat offers the best of both worlds: the peace and space of the countryside with carefully prepared, comfortable unusual accommodations for couples and small families. Our property is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing and simple unwinding beside the water. Guests arrive between 17:00 and 19:00 and enjoy a relaxed check-out at 11:00. All lodgings include linens, towels, bathrobes and complimentary toiletries. Each cabin or cottage is equipped with central electric heating, air conditioning, Netflix and WiFi. Kitchens contain a hob, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and microwave, plus all essential cookware so you can prepare fresh seasonal meals when you wish. Bathrooms are designed for comfort, typically with a walk-in shower and double sinks where space allows, and reliable hot water year-round. On-site facilities include a heated outdoor pool (open during summer months), a children’s play area, direct access to the river for short walks or fishing, and friendly farm animals nearby that delight younger guests. For extra comfort we offer curated food and experience options: the House Hamper (70€) with a starter, main, dessert, cheese and a bottle of wine, prepared with seasonal and home-grown ingredients when available; a Vegetarian Hamper; a Charcuterie Board for two; Birthday or Romantic Surprises; and Late Checkout with Brunch for two (40€, served at 10:00 and allowing departure until 13:00 — not available in July and August). We live on the estate with our family and are happy to share local tips, guide you to the best walks and recommend nearby attractions such as Lake Vassivière, the Wolves of Chabrières park, the bison safari at Boussac-Bourganeuf, and the Cité internationale de la tapisserie in Aubusson. Please note that pets are not permitted. For same-day bookings our reservations close at midnight.
