Ô Bois Dormant is a small eco-friendly retreat set on more than two hectares of forest in the Périgord Vert, at Lieu-dit Bosvert, 24800 Lempzours, France. Hosted by Julien and Cyril, the site offers a quiet, nature-first alternative to conventional tourism. The two cabins are designed to respect the environment while providing a comfortable, restorative stay. Key sustainable features include solar lamps, dry toilets (both communal and private where available), and wastewater treated by phytoepuration. These measures reduce the ecological footprint while preserving the beautiful Dordogne landscape.
Guests arrive between 14:00 and 19:00 from April to September. During the hottest periods of high season, early arrival from 14:00 is encouraged to maximize time on site for swimming, hiking, or relaxing. Early check-in can be arranged by phone. At arrival, each guest receives a welcome kit including solar lamps, a towel, a site map, and a welcome booklet to help you settle in and plan activities.
Breakfast service is available by reservation and served between 08:00 and 10:00; a local-produce breakfast is offered for €10 per person and can be booked on arrival. Evening meals are offered in a flexible, self-service format called "kitchen in jars": jars of locally prepared dishes by a Dordogne artisan conservier kept chilled near the sanitary area for guests to select and heat at their convenience. An equipped communal kitchen at reception provides all necessary crockery and utensils for guests who prefer to cook.
On-site activities include marked hiking trails leaving from the domain, ping pong, pétanque, board games, and a fun ventouse archery activity. The Périgord Vert region adds many nearby options: canoeing, accrobranche, climbing, VTT, visits to châteaux and abbeys, markets, and festivals. Saint-Jean-de-Côle, one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of France," is less than 15 km away.
Practical rules and amenities: the site is non-smoking and does not accept pets. Children are welcome but remain the responsibility of their parents. Wi-Fi is available at the reception area. Guests are advised to pack suitable clothing and footwear and to favor a rucksack over rigid suitcases due to the wooded terrain.
